Nested Tuesday: Punchy Pillows

We’ve (been on the hunt for some pillows to brighten up our space.  With our grey walls, beige couch and charcoal duvet cover – our bed and couch are just calling out for some fun!  A few on my list:

50s Birdcage Pillow.  $18.  Handmade by Olive.  She sells her wares on Etsy, and custom makes each pillow – so not only do you get a super-cute pillow, at a great bargain, you can also select your backing color to perfectly match your room.

CB2 Kala Pillow. $39.95  I love the bright patchwork of this pillow.  A touch of ethnic mixed in modern stripes.

Anthropologie Lipizzan Pillow.  $98.  Beautifully appliqued pillow that would be a dream on a bed or a sofa.

Hable Construction’s Applique Butterfly Pillow.  $195.  This quirky butterfly makes me happy!  Would be just the motivation I need to make the bed perfectly everyday…

Inspired Weekend

I am self-confessed book junkie.  The smoothness of an unopened cover, the smell and feel of the paper – and the possibilities and curiosities that come with reading and learning…pure happiness.  I’ve been craving some new craft inspiration and these books will surely fit that bill!

Wallpaper Projects.  Written by Derek Fagerstom and Lauren Smith, the ultra-hip husband and wife duo who run The Curiosity Shoppe.  I have  roll of vintage wallpaper that’s been stored in my closet for 5+ years – maybe it will finally be put to use.

Martha Stewart’s Encyclopedia of Crafts.  I’m a closet Martha lover…is there anything she can’t do?  I love the step by step instructions and the beautiful photography that accompanies her projects.

Lotta Jansdotter’s Simple Sewing.  I’ve been wanting to learn to sew for awhile…and this book, full of simple and creative projects may be  just the nudge I need to actually get started.

Found Friday: Shower Curtains

What a simple way to liven up an otherwise boring room!  I’ve been searching for some shower curtains with personality, seemingly easy, right?  Not so.  A few faves:

West Elm’s Organic Color Bock.  I love the orange – and may even be able to pass this off as ‘masculine’ at my house, always a strong selling feature!

Garnet Hill’s Hable School of Fish.  Seriously, have you seen anything those Hable girls do that’s not to die for?

Ikea Baven.  What’s not to love about this quirky stripe from Ikea?  What a value…

I love music and the way it can shape a moment, mood or memory. 3 of my favorite songs to smile to…

Feist, 1234. I first loved this song on the iPod commercials – and can’t stop smiling anytime I’ve heard it since.

Corrine Bailey Rae, Put Your Records On. I heard this song on a pivotal trip to London – fresh from a break up, and on the verge of a 30th birthday. I loved the happy, power, calm it provided me.

Pete Yorn, A Girl Like You. The first song G (the husband, then boyfriend) ever learned to play exclusively for me, because I said how much I loved it. Still, 4 years later – it gives me chills.

Bicycle Built for You!

The warm weather has finally inspired me to bust my bicycle out of the garage! A great way to see the sites at a slower pace. My favorite is cruiser – a laid-back stylin’ ride that gets you where you want to go all the while looking trés chic. And if aren’t the outdoor type – you can always capture the carefree spirit with a cute print!

Found Friday: Vintage Clocks

A series of found objects is one of my favorite visual displays to create. I love the eclectic nature, the glimpse into the past and the story (imagined or real) that comes with vintage finds. One of my favorite fancies are vintage clocks, the clean lines, simple fonts and industrial design of these pieces are perfect on their own or in a grouping. Find yours today, many companies are doing reproductions or for authentic vintage etsy and ebay are great resources.
