Hello friends! After a 2 week adventure to Crete, Paris and London – I’m finally heading back to Dallas this weekend.  I can’t wait to share inspirations, stories and photos with you here in the coming weeks.  But for now – enjoy these etsy finds that reminded me of  the lone star state.  Happy Weekend!

Bulletin Board Updated

bulletinboard

I love these beautiful updates to the standard bulletin board – a much needed design redo! A great way to display your favorite photos, postcards or child’s artwork in a style that suits your house, these are easy to re-create projects to inspire.

Ribbon Frame. What a great use of color as a functional work of art! Recreate by stapling ribbons in varying colors and widths to a picture frame that suits your space.

Picture Rail. A modernized approach to the bulletin board, this cork rail is the perfect accent to this hallway. Read full instructions here.

Framed Bulletin Board. This framed, fabric covered board is a almost a piece of art on it’s own…would be fun covered in a stripe, or bold print! Read full instructions here.

Magnetic Screen. I love this screen as a way to hide that messy crafty part of your office. To create, use a couple of coats of magnetic paint underneath your color. To build the screen from scratch, read here.

Interior Inspiration: Eclectic Dining

diningrooms

The dining room…the ultimate gathering spot in any home for family and friends.  This room has to be comfortable, yet functional.  It must be inviting and open enough to inspire long dinners with friends – and beautiful enough that you’ll want to host dinners again and again.  A few of my favorites:

Mis-matched chairs. This space has such a comfortable yet stylized feel. The found chairs, numbers and stacked fish bowls add a bit of whimsy to this neutral haven.

Arts and Crafts Dining Room. This room has a great vibe! It incorporates one of my favorite chairs – the wishbone along with the bold lighting and canvas wall art choice to make a strong statement room. Lovely!

Shades of Grey. This clean table and rounded chairs perfectly blend the modern and the traditional. I love all the shades of grey used from paint to decor to create this cohesive and calming room.

Wallpaper Dining Room. Retro patterned wallpaper is the focal point, but not overwhelming in this gem of a room. The high gloss furniture, clean lines and mirrored accents make this glamorously modern room perfectly polished.

Found Friday: For the Birds

birdhouses

Good design doesn’t have to be relegated to us 2 legged species…our feathered friends deserve a modern dwelling too!

1. Shell birdhouse – Organic, yet modern – these shell birdhouses will make the perfect perch for a small backyard oasis. $28. (Velocity Art and Design)

2. Bird Box – Solid oak for a sturdy home. Love the aluminum twig perch! $145. (Pure Modern)

3. Case Study Birdhouses – This series is made of teak, with aluminum roofs. Each is named for a case study architect pioneer. $195 each. (Modern Birdhouses)

4. Egg Bird Houses – Bright, colorful and simply beautiful to look at. The egg bird house is my favorite on the list. $135. (J. Schatz)

5. Bird Cylinder. Clean lines and the cool white make this house perfect for a variety of gardens. You can even pick the opening size to attract the specific family of birds you want to see! $88. (Sprout Home)

6. Bird Nest – I couldn’t resist throwing in the cutest nest I’ve ever seen. Made from felted wool. Delightful. $20. (Drawing Room)

7. Wood Birdhouses – A colorful roof and a quirky opening make this simple house happy! $29.99. (Pop Deluxe)

Object Round-Up: The Ottoman

ottoman

The ottoman. One of the great interior accents that’s so rarely used today… Faithfully functions as a coffee or end table, but can convert to extra seating in a pinch! I love these options to add character AND capacity to any room.

Interior Inspiration: Loving Neutrals

neutralliving

Neutrals need not be boring. These rooms illustrate how beautiful, rich and luxurious neutral colors can be when used in dramatic fashion.

Relaxed Study. What a great place to lose yourself in a story.

Living Room.  Love the mix of textures – from the rug to the sofa to the exposed beams, this looks like the perfect winter retreat.

Bedroom.  Calm and serene, this room would inspire sleep and relaxation.

Dining Room.  I love the clean chairs and table, accented with mis-matched objects and collections to bring warmth to this room.
