Origami Balls

My friend ShayO of Bee Things traveled with me to NYC last week and made the most incredible origami balls on the plane.  I love the way she organizes them into a color wheel…

Marni Inspired Bedroom

Marni Spring 2010

I’m a huge fan of Marni…and this first look from the Spring 2010 show really captured the color combination + pattern that makes me swoon.  I’ve kept it on my desktop for awhile, waiting for the perfect use.  So today, I’m going to turn this outfit into a bedroom.  Beautiful bedding, bold rug and simple bird bowl to hold these soothing felt pebbles.  Ahhh.

Bedding Set, Stripe Flor Tile, Gold Bird, Felted Pebbles.

I’m kind of into white interiors lately.  And I mean white…all white.  Clean, serene and sophisticated.  Alas, this style will only live in my dreams.  I’m not nearly neat enough to keep my space this bright.  Instead, these white items would compliment my warm wood and colorful accents perfectly.

What if Wednesday: in another life

Do you ever daydream about what you would have been in another life?  I find myself dreaming about that all the days lately…and I keep thinking it’s never too late to find that life and start again.  So, today I’m torn between:

chef.  specializing in italian food and making the yummiest pizzas and desserts ever…

kindergarten teacher.  the one that you would STILL list on all those security questions about your favorite teacher ever.

letterpress artist.  setting my own designs and pressing fresh ink all the live-long-day.

magazine editor.  writing, researching and concepting stories on fashion or interior trends…lovely.

interior designer.  designing fabulous, swoon-worthy rooms for my fabulous, swoon-worthy clients.

but, then again, the life i ended up with is pretty. darn. good.  so, maybe i’ll just go back to that for a bit longer…

what would you like to be in another life?

hopin for hoppen

Interior design wonder Kelly Hoppen’s home is so sophisticated chic, can’t you just envision the glamorous life you’d lead with this as home base?

I love the mostly neutral palette, the rich textures and materials and the repetition of the shelving and vases above.

and the contrast of high gloss finish in the breakfast room to the more rustic dining area above.

So feminine, luxurious and comforting.  I want to crawl into this bed and read and lounge for days…
