Marfa Take Two…

I had the good fortune of spending another week in Marfa last week.  If you haven’t been, I suggest you get. there. fast.  But – I would wait until this Texas cold-spell passes us by so you can really enjoy the wide open spaces, small town feel and abundance of art.

If you do get there – here is my short list of must-dos:

*Eat falafal at Food Shark.

*Shop for unique finds at JM Drygoods.

*Tour Chinati.

*Eat date pudding at Cochineal and Cuatro Leches at Blue Javelina.  Argue over which is better.  Eat them again to decide.

*Visit Wool & Hoop and learn about crewel embroidery.

*Take pictures of the beautiful clouds and clear, blue sky.

*Try to get in a run to make room for more good eats.

*Order white pizza from Pizza Foundation.  Beware – the slices are HUGE and addictive.

*View the Marfa lights + amazing stars at the viewing center.

Get moving people!

Valentine’s Dinner

Yummm.  I’m still licking my lips just thinking of the dinner we enjoyed last night.  I so love Pioneer Woman’s recipes, and have had my eye on her Braised Short Ribs and Polenta ever since she posted it back in November.  I finally decided to just go for it, and it did not disappoint.  I wasn’t able to get mine quite as fall off the bone as PW raves about, but they were still good.

My favorite part was the goat cheese polenta…creamy, yummy and a nice potato substitute (and oh-so-easy!)

Hope that you had a Happy Valentine’s!  Did you make anything special?

Antique Sari Quilts

Ooooh!  Not sure if it’s my time in Marfa, or my longing for summer, but these antique sari quilts from Sundance Catalog have left me wanting to buy these beauties in bulk.  Each is  one-of-a-kind, handmade in India and just waiting to be loved by someone (maybe you!)

Tiffany Blue…at home.

Tiffany blue.  Has there ever been a color that has made women so giddy?  A color so moving, even just to have a paper box was enough to make you smile?  I’m loving these rooms that turn this color into a focal point of a room.   It’s calming, beautiful and can run the gamete from fun and playful, to serene and peaceful.  These rooms are a few of my latest online loves to inspire you to bring this color into your home today!
