Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday friends!  Hope that you all have something fun, relaxing and creative planned for the weekend.  I’m looking forward to a weekend back in Dallas, hanging out with some of my best friends!  Drinking wine, eating yummies, pedicures, shopping and visiting a museum.  The perfect way to catch up with long lost friends!  Isn’t the image above the picture of girliness…we spotted this beautiful display at Liberty while in London last week.  Have a fab weekend and hope to see you back here next week!

Today’s object round-up is for one of the most used tables in a home!  The catch-all of the coffee table has to be versatile…dinner table, storage, game central.  Any of these on the round-up would make the perfect companion to any sofa – modern or traditional.

What if Wednesday: Coffee House

I adore the thought of owning a small coffee shop someday.  A quiet place with excellent coffee, lots of friendly neighborhood regulars, and a rustic design.  I imagine days of taking orders and playing barista to artists, musicians, busy moms and people in need of a break in their day.

Today I ventured into Monmouth Coffee Company in Covent Garden, London and it was instant love.  From the cute interior, friendly staff, cute packaging, wonderful chocolate and even more amazing coffee – I am smitten.

i heart my coffee.

It’s a Small World…

via Apartment Therapy

Vintage globes and maps can make the best accents for a room.  I love the muted colors, love them shown in groupings and especially love the scholastic feel they lend to any space.  I think they’re ideal in an office, kids room or even a living room.

I love how they’ve carried the retro school-house style throughout the storage in this room.

This boldly colored map provides the starting point for the room.

If you’re inspired to smarten up your space with vintage globs and maps – take a look at Etsy or Ebay for LOTS of options.

captured moments

Happy Monday my someday friends!  I’m in London for a few days this week and wanted to share a few of the lovely things I saw out and about over the weekend…I’ve gotten in the habit of taking my camera everywhere!  It keeps me focused on the small details of life that make me smile.

Closet Craving: Countdown to Spring!

After the beautiful weather we had in Dallas this weekend, I can’t wait to wear spring!  I’ve been keeping notes and a list going ever since the Spring shows last fall…and here are a few of my favorite pieces.

Easy dresses that I can wear again and again, I love to layer them with cardigans, boyfriend jackets, scarves, belts and lots of jewelry.

J. Crew Checked Puckered Shift Dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs Flutter Stripe Dress, Free People Boyfriend Dolman Dress, Mossimo Printed Dress.

The slouchy skinny is my new favorite fit…slim and more flattering than the traditional boyfriend, but still just that right amount of un-done…

Gap Slouchy Skinny Destructed Jean, Current Elliott Super Slouchy Skinny Jean, 7 for all Mankind Josefina.

Loving anything military influenced this spring…especially to pair with something over-the-top girlie.

Loft Cargo Crop Pant, Gap Military Anorak, Free People Sargeant Jacket.

I’m always a fan of print in spring.  And there’s so many wonder-lovelies to choose from.

Anthropologie Swirled Azita Tunic, Urban Outfitters Printed Skirt, Kingsley Kimono TunicHanii Y Printed Patchwork Dress, DVF Beaded JacketMartin + Osa A Line Tank.

What are you going to be wearing this spring?

Industrial Lighting

I love the look of industrial lighting…especially used in a bedroom for an unexpected touch of structure, masculinity and architecture in an otherwise serene and soft setting.  As soon as we settle on some nightstands, I’ll be on the hunt for a lamp like any of these to complete our room…

Link Table Lamp, $380.

Feather Table Lamp, $169.

Tolomeo Lamp, $250.

Robson Sconce, $178.

Mechanic’s Beacon Lighting, $148.

Crane Desk Lamp, $99.95.

Hi-Light Task Lamp, $79.

Counterpoise Task Lamp, $579.

Reader Photos: Carnival

David Hennessey shared some photos from his recent trip to Carnaval in Nice, France.  The theme of this year’s Carnival is Our Blue Planet and is focused on the health and well-being of our planet and it’s inhabitants.  Doesn’t it look like a lovely time?  See all of David’s photos + read about his trip here.

Recipe Round-Up: Delightful Desserts

Thank you Betty Brownies via Bakerella

I’m not much of a baker…something about the exact, precise measurements and the painful process of waiting just doesn’t mesh well with my style.  BUT, I’m willing to reconsider all of this for these yum-i-licious treats that I want to make soon.  Or, if you’re a baker, you could make them and send one my way:)  Top of my list is the brownies above from Bakerella…they actually look easy enough for me to master.

Chocolate Pots de Creme with Maple Caramel & Salt via Food & Wine.

I’ll save this one for a day when I’m feeling a bit more confident in my baking skills…but I’ve lately become obsessed with the heavenly combo of caramel + sea salt.  If you haven’t tried this yet, stop what you’re doing and track some down now.

Pear Galette via Martha Stewart

Combines two of my favorite things…fruit and dough. Mmmm..

Molten Lava Cake via Paula Deen.

Oozing warm chocolate goodness inside a yummy cake…the perfect dessert in my opinion.

Any favorite desserts you love to make?  I’d love to hear about them…just post in the comments section of this post!

xoxo, jill.
