Hello lovelies! I’ve quite enjoyed taking a little bloggy break, but wanted to pop into today to share a few things I’m just loving for spring.

This is my favorite time of year…flowers blooming, grass greening and the best weather a girl who lives in Texas could hope for. I just wish these darn wildfires and allergies would blow on away to leave us to enjoy our spring in peace!!

i am really loving squash this winter. roasted in a tad of olive oil with just a hint of sea salt + black pepper to perfection. in a salad with some gorgonzola, on it’s own straight from the oven, or mixed with some brussel sprouts or other equally grown up vegetable. i think it means i’m officially an adult if i’m eating these things of my own free will. sigh…

i take solace in that i am not alone in this. a quick flickr scan has taken my love to a whole new level. these beautiful images and the enticing thought of a squash pizza, muffin, sandwich or tart. mmmm. i can barely contain my head until my next squash cook-a-thon.
Winter continues in Dallas, bringing grey skies and beautiful sunsets. I’m staying warm, crafting by the fire and enjoying the slow pace of life that comes with the cold.
I’m attempting to capture the small moments of my life in 2011. One day at a time, one photo per day. Just a few things that I see that make me smile, make me think or make me pause. Do you have moments like those?

I love making lists. That much you know. And you know it wouldn’t be a new year if I didn’t make at least a small list of somedays I aspire to accomplish in the coming year.
*Find and perfect my signature meal. From appetizer to dessert, I want to become really, really good at making one great meal from start to finish. I may have already found my dessert which I shared on Eat.Live.Shop here.
*Sew. Paint. Photograph. Get crafty. Lots.
*Do one thing at a time. This will be a hard habit for me to break…but after my holiday time off, my mind is so blissfully happy being able to concentrate and focus. It makes for more productive, more engaged, more creative thinking and is so against how our world is wired these days. But I’m going to try.

*Finish our home. We’re in. Boxes unpacked, furniture in place. But that lived in homey-home feel is still a work in progress.
*Consume less. Do more. I am a lover of things. You can tell that with one glance at my blog, my office, my closet…I adore stuff. But this year, I’m going to take a break from stuff. Not a break-up mind you, just a break. Less stuff means less to clean, less to store, less to worry about. Which leaves me more time for doing more. Cooking. Crafting. Getting my butt in better shape. Don’t worry – I’ll still share my loves with you here so I can still adore stuff, but from a short distance.
So my friends, I am excited and happy to be starting another wonderful year! I am ending 2010 grateful for so many things – family, friends, health + happiness, all the goodness that is life. And I’m grateful for you too my dear readers! Thanks for sticking it out with me.
To help me do a bit more in 2011, I’m going to be scaling back on my postings here. I’m not going away, just going to be here a bit less regularly. For now. We’ll see how it goes. Hi Friends! I’m finally back home after a long (10 day) trek from LA to Paris, Germany and finally London. I’m looking forward to wrapping up my Christmas shopping and entertaining family this weekend! I’ll be cooking and baking sharing my dessert recipe over at Eat.Live.Shop. as part of Renee’s Holiday Recipe Exchange – which I’m loving following along with and getting many ideas! Pictured is the apple tart I made for Thanksgiving, not sure if that will make a repeat performance this weekend or not…
Can you believe it’s almost 2011? I’m trying to remind myself to stop and enjoy the moment, but can’t help but thinking ahead to a few of the things I’m looking forward to doing in the new year!
Long on my to-do list is learning to make ravioli. I’ve asked for the attachment for my Kitchen Aid mixer from Santa, wink, wink – so am hoping that 2011 is finally my year to learn! Meanwhile, my ravioli bookmark folder is busting at the seams with all kinds of ravioli goodness. First up on my list will be artichoke, lobster and mushroom raviolis.
And to eat all that pasta, I’m going to have to increase my workout time…a lot. One workout I’m loving lately is Exhale’s Core Fusion series. I just saw a new Boot Camp video that I think might help minimize the amount of pasta that sticks to my hips. Try out a few segments for free here…
I’m going to get a bit more serious about my daily photography…something I started this year, but wasn’t diligent about. I’m getting a lot of inspiration from here and here. I love my photography – not only as a hobby, but also as a built in slow down and be grateful moment looking through that lens provides.
